Négy, egocentrikus barát történetét meséli el a fordulatos, meglepetéseket tartogató sztori, melynek központi helyszíne egy philadelphiai ír kocsma, a Paddys.
Mac (Rob McElhenney), Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) és Dennis (Glenn Howerton) a kocsma tulajdonosai és évek óta nagyon jó barátok. A negyedik fõhõs a Paddys pultosa, Dennis testvére, Dee (Kaitlin Olson). Mind a négyen azon dolgoznak, hogy az ír kocsma jól mûködjön, bár ebben némileg hátráltatja õket, hogy egoisták, rasszisták és gyerekesek.
